“Oh!!
Lovely peacock filling the sky
I was once music in the clouds
you dance glee fully with feathers held high
you are the rainbow and I!
The painter”

The painter”
That’s the great song “Mayuri go tuma akasha re” from
Arundhati. I was totally spellbound after listening the beautiful song sung in
a magnanimous voice by my dearest sir. I was a student of 1st Year
B.Sc. (Ag.) and you were a professor during my first meet with you. When I was
a first year student, you stood as a substitute for my parents. When I grew
older you assumed the role of a guide, when I was capable to stand on my own
feet you assisted me to reach all the mile stones and accomplished the entire
goal set for life. During the formative years of life your immense love &
affection made me so mature to think upon myself and to plan for my
ever-changing careers.
You are the one who made learning an
adventure and who can still remember what it’s like to be young and growing up.
You made me realise that excellency is within oneself. Someone whom I can
really talk to, who really cares what happens to me!! That person is you!! With
your guiding hand and ever understanding smile gives much more then I expect. That
is your way, your incomparable style. You are the synchronous generator of
happiness. You are a genuine admirer of Lord Jaganath’s bhajan & melodious
heart-throbbing songs. The ever smiling, exuberant and lively attitude of yours
is a cure for many diseases & depression.
From my sir to the apex of OUAT, you
have travelled a long distance with your firm optimistic belief & self
confidence. For you the old saying “Slow and steady wins the race” sometimes
does not find its application. Your great sense of fellow-feeling is always
praise worthy for your benevolent helping hand. Once I too read a Japanese
proverb that says “Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day
with a great teacher”. Fondly, I can say in a true sense you are the perfect teacher,
philosopher and guide. I pray to god to bless you with a long, healthy and
cheerful life. Your soothing presence be felt by one and all forever and ever.
